THE STORY

In the summertime of the 1970s there were free concerts at a place I believe was called Departmental Auditorium part of the Dept.of Agriculture. One time the Kenton band was booked. I got there early and grabbed a seat in the front row no more than ten feet from Peter Erskine and his drums. At the end of one very energetic number I noticed Peter changing the mallet for his bass drum. The rod that held it was bent at about a 45% angle. "Whoa" I said to no one in particular. The guy sitting next to me said "Ah ..he does that all the time". Peter was playing a set of drums with a clear head on the bass drum where you could see through the drum.I mentioned to him that it would look nice if he had gold fish swimming in there. He looked at me and said "Naw I'd rather have Pirana". A big thank you to Dennis Noday for helping me ID some of the band members. Left to right in most pictures.
